
The Harlem Gospel Choir, America’s most famous gospel choir, are in Rome at Christmas at the Auditorium Parco della Musica to present their repertoire.
Founded in 1986 in New York and known for its powerful interpretation of gospel music, the Harlem Gospel Choir is not only a musical ensemble, but also and above all an ambassador of African-American culture; through music, in fact, the choir promotes the understanding and appreciation of African-American traditions, addressing issues of social justice and spirituality. Their performances are always characterized by a strong energy and an emotional involvement that captures the audience, making each show extraordinary. Over the years, the Harlem Gospel Choir has collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as: Andre Rieu, Diana Ross, Bono, The Chieftains, Simple Minds, Live, Sinead O’Connor, Gorillaz and has participated in numerous music festivals, increasingly increasing its fame in the international music scene.
The Harlem Gospel Choir was founded by Allan Bailey, who with 35 years of experience in the music industry is recognized for his work with the Commodores, Michael Jackson and Prince. Their repertoire includes gospel classics such as Oh Happy Day and Amazing Grace, as well as contemporary pieces that blend elements of jazz and soul. With tours throughout Europe and beyond, this group continues to inspire listeners of all generations with their compelling music and universal message of love and hope.
The group’s repertoire includes traditional and contemporary gospel, jazz and blues; audience participation is an integral part of every choir show. The Harlem Gospel Choir has performed for royalty, President Obama, Nelson Mandela, Elton John and two Popes.
