Guinness 6 Nations Rugby 2025

Five weekends of super challenges between England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales for the most important and oldest international 15-a-side rugby tournament in the Northern Hemisphere, the Six Nations Championship, now in its 131st edition. The competition has a long history behind it: founded in the late 19th century as the Home Nations Championship, it was initially only played by the four teams from the British Isles. Between 1910 and 1931 and then between 1947 and 1999 France was also invited to participate, and the tournament changed its name to become known as the Five Nations.

The current name is from 2000, the year of the Italian national team’s debut. The 2025 edition therefore marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Italy’s first participation in the tournament, which in a quarter of a century has seen Rome consolidate its place among the great cities of world rugby, protagonists of an event that has grown year after year both locally and globally.

The Six Nations 2025 will kick off on 31 January with the match between France and Wales. After the opener in Edinburgh against Scotland on 1 February at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, the Italian team coached by Gonzalo Quesada and fresh from their best tournament ever in 2024 (two wins against Scotland and Wales, a draw with France and a bonus point won against England) will make their home debut in the second round, on Saturday 8 February, receiving Wales at the Stadio Olimpico in one of the most eagerly awaited challenges of their season. The third round also takes place at home, on Sunday 23 February, in the Latin derby against France also valid for the Garibaldi Trophy. After a fourth round at Twickenham on 9 March with England, so far unbeaten by the Azzurri, the grand finale will be again at home against reigning champions Ireland, on 15 March (two days before the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations), in the traditional Super Saturday which includes three matches one after the other.

During the match days of the Six Nations, the Peroni Nastro Azzurro Terzo Tempo Village set up in the Foro Italico area will color Rome featuring pre- and post-match events, activities, music and entertainment to give the fans present an unforgettable experience.
