In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni at the Palladium Theater, directed by Roberto Castello, is an original show combining cinema, dance and theatre. Within a bare, essential scenography, illuminated by the cold light of a video projector that scans space and time, the dancers-actors dressed in black are projected into a timeless past inhabited by a disbanded humanity advancing and moving on stage with a brusque, emotional and decomposed gesture, until the exhaustion; while the pounding rhythm of the music transports the spectators into an almost hypnotic dimension.
The title of the show, an enigmatic Latin palindrome of uncertain origins which was already chosen as the title by Guy Debord for a famous 1978 film, should therefore be understood as a metaphor for living in an infinite consumption of desires, to become an almost cathartic experience of his grotesque effort.
The show is a production of Aldes - an association of artists and cultural operators that produces and promotes choreographic experimentation works - with the support of MIBACT/General Directorate of Live Entertainment, Tuscany Region/Regional Entertainment System.
