The International Museum Day 2024 (IMD) returns, which this year also is scheduled for May. Established by ICOM way back in 1977, the Day includes a series of planned events and activities relating to a specific theme by the museums participating in the initiative, which for 2024 is “Museums for education and research”.
The broad program of the Day runs from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 May, and takes place in museums and in the area with extraordinary openings, guided tours and workshops dedicated to the whole family. The theme chosen for this year aims to underline the essential role of cultural institutions in providing a comprehensive educational experience, in which history, art, science and research converge together with sustainability, inclusiveness and fun.
All activities are free, with the museum entrance fee paid at the current rate. Access to museums and exhibitions is free for holders of the Rome MIC Card, with the exception of the exhibitions Beyond Space, Beyond Time. The dream of Ulisse Aldrovandi at the Civic Museum of Zoology and Giacomo Matteotti. Life and death of a father of Democracy at the Museum of Rome at Palazzo Braschi, which includes a reduced entrance fee with the Roma MIC Card.
