The thrilling show of beach volleyball is back to Rome with the thirteenth edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2022 at the Parco del Foro Italico.
The park hosts the best male and female beach volleyball couples who compete this summer to become world champions. There are a total of 48 male and 48 female pairs in the tournament which includes a preliminary group stage, a round for lucky-loser pairs and a single elimination stage. In fact, the 48 couples are divided into 12 groups made up of 4 teams each, through the Round Robin system. The first two ranked teams of each group, together with the four best third parties advance to the final stage; the eight third-ranked pairs remaining in the various groups, on the other hand, play four games in the round for lucky-losers.
The knockout phase begins with the round of 32 and is followed by the round of eight, quarter-finals, semi-finals and medal matches.
The Championship is held every two years and represents one of the highlights at a sporting level of the year, as well as being a highly coveted title by the players of the international beach volleyball circuit.
