After the great successes of Swan Lake, Carmen and Giselle in the past years, as part of the Roma Europa Festival, this year the South African choreographer Dada Masilo returns to the Auditorium with "The sacrifice", a fascinating updated reinterpretation of "Le sacre du printemps" by Igor Stravinsky.
The choreographer, a master in interpreting the great classics of ballet in a contemporary key, explores the theme of sacrifice present in Stravinsky's famous ballet, linking it to the tradition of African Tswana dance, born in the Botswana region and characterized by rhythm and expressiveness.
The show, with the musical rewriting of Philip Miller, builds a new narrative architecture in which two apparently distant traditions are intertwined, collective songs, rituals and innovation typical of contemporary world.
