Carnevale...a regola d’arte

Masks, confetti, streamers and a whiff of merry madness: from 10 to 13 February, carnival returns to the city with the workshops and the themed and interactive guided tours of “Carnevale... a regola d’arte”.

The Musei in Comune museum network will offer all their visitors the chance to learn about Rome’s cultural heritage but also to have fun embodying characters from historical (and prehistoric) scenes. At the Museo di scultura antica Giovanni Barracco, visitors will be guided to the discovery of mysterious Egyptian hieroglyphics and ancient masks (on 10 and 11 February), while the Museo di Roma in Trastevere and the Museo delle Mura will focus, respectively, on the little-known figure of Trilussa as a puppeteer (on 13 February) and the clothes of ancient Roman monks and legionnaires (on 11 February).

Kids can relive the events and characters of the Italian Risorgimento at the Museo della Repubblica Romana e memoria garibaldina (on 10 February), discover the most colorful and fascinating animal cloaks at the the Museo civico di Zoologia (on 10 February) and become “young Neanderthals” at the Museo di Casal de’ Pazzi (on 11 February). Grand finale for the whole family on Tuesday 13 February at 4pm: the Museo di Roma invites you to take a masked stroll through its halls to discover the history of Roman Carnival between the 17th and 19th centuries and to step into the shoes of the protagonists of a royal feast!
