Beethoven's Ninth

La Nona di Beethoven-Foto: sito ufficiale del Teatro Palladium

Roma Tre Orchestra and the International Opera Choir conducted by conductor Sieva Borzak, one of the most promising of the new generation, present Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the Palladium Theater. Accompanying them are four internationally experienced singers:  the soprano Sabrina Cortese, the mezzo-soprano Chiara Guglielmi, the tenor Romolo Tisano and  the bass Sergio Foresti.

Written between 1822 and 1824, the Symphony n.9 in D minor for soloists, chorus and orchestra op.125, also known as Choral Symphony, is the last composed by the great German musician. The symphony, which is among the best known and most performed works of the entire classical repertoire, is considered one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of music, as well as being considered by many musicologists to be Beethoven's masterpiece. It is also famous because the first three symphonic movements are followed by a fourth which includes the chorus on the verses of the ode To Joy by the poet Friedrich Schiller, which has become a universal symbol of unity and brotherhood among men. The theme of the finale in fact, readapted by Herbert von Karajan, was adopted in 1972 as the anthem of the European Union.
