Tributo a Morricone - Film History

From his first collaborations with director Sergio Leone to the music he created for Hollywood from the 1970s onward, which consecrated the composer as a world icon with two Oscars and a star on the Walk Of Fame. The highlights of Maestro Ennio Morricone’s career are retraced in the show staged at the Brancaccio Theater with the Cinema Ensemble Grand Orchestra, soprano Costanza Gallo and conductor Simone Giusti.

The show is not only a way to hear the maestro’s music live, but also to recall the historical path of his creations. Graphics and video projections follow the evolution of his many collaborations alongside directors such as Duccio Tessari, Sergio Sollima and Sergio Corbucci, in Italy, and John Carpenter, Brian De Palma, Mike Nichols, Terrence Malick, Oliver Stone, Roman Polański and Quentin Tarantin in the United States. The score for Quentin Tarantino’s film The Hateful Eight earned him his second Oscar in 2016, following his lifetime achievement Oscar in 2007 and after being nominated five times between 1979 and 2001 without ever receiving the award.

The show includes excerpts from Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion; Duck, You Sucker!; Sacco & Vanzetti; For a Few Dollars More; A Fistful of Dollars; The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; Once Upon a Time in the West; The Hateful Eight; Nuovo Cinema Paradiso; Mission; Once Upon a Time in America; and The Legend of 1900, among others.
