The Francofilm 2023 – Francophone Film Festival in Rome, which presents seventeen screenings of feature films and documentaries, is held at the Institut Français Center Saint-Louis de France, and this year has as its main theme the climatical, social, political and personal change.
The films in the festival come from French-speaking countries: Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada-Québec, Djibouti (out of competition), France, Luxembourg, Monaco to the Holy See (out of competition), Niger, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Romania, Switzerland and Tunisia. All the films in competition are in the original version, subtitled in Italian.
Out of competition is the opening film Annie Colère, by Blandine Lenoir, with Laure Calamy, which touches on the theme of abortion, and the closing one, Youssef Salem a du succès by Baya Kasmi. The Francofilm Grand Prix will instead be awarded by the jury to one of the following films: Monaco, des princes et des océans, Marcher sul l'eau, Au revoir le bonheur, Bulgarian ship sinks in rough seas, Ashkal, La dernier danse, La femme du fossoyeur, R.M.N., L'employée du mois, En route pour le milliard, Saules aveugles, femme endormie, Zulali, Aya, Marie, coeur de Roumanie, Les magnétiques.
