Located between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna, Via Margutta is a magical refuge if you want to stroll in peace, away from the chaos of the Trident.
Here, you can literally immerse yourself into another dimension. Ivy and creepers cover the facades of the ancient buildings, the big stores in the historic center give way to art and antique galleries, craft and restoration shops, and elegant restaurants.
Every year, since 1953, Via Margutta has hosted "100 Pittori", the event which for a few days transforms this street into an open-air art gallery. Artists from different countries of the world give life and color to this enchanted place suspended in time, celebrating its ancient vocation.
This year, the autumn edition of the event celebrates Dante's Divine Comedy: literature, culture, and painting come together in a tribute to the Supreme Poet, 700 years after his death.
Over one hundred artists will present their works dedicated to a Canto from the Divine Comedy, accompanied by the triplet from which it takes inspiration.
The official inauguration of the exhibition is scheduled at 5 pm on Friday 17 December in front of the Fountain of the Arts, in the presence of the city and regional authorities, including Luigi Salvatori, president of the Cento Pittori Via Margutta Association, Professor Salvatore Italia of the Dante Alighieri Society of piazza Firenze, and Marco Vincenzi president of the regional council.
A virtual version on a three-dimensional online platform integrates the exhibition.
