Asaf Avidan returns with his new album, Anagnorisis, for a series of concerts with a band, three years after his last solo appearance on Italian stages with The Study of Falling.
Anagnorisis is the word coined by Aristotle to define that particular and sudden moment in which one reveals one's character and identity, transcending from ignorance to knowledge.
Enriched by various musical currents ranging from 90's hip-hop to the most current pop, up to gospel music, each track of the new record seems to echo with deep roots that dig inward with curated and precise structures.
The real peculiarity of the new record is that all the vocals are by Asaf himself, who has recorded some verses up to twelve times to superimpose, with different tones, his voice. The artist has also played all the instruments in the album. The result is of a thousand nuances that belong to a single figure able to range from falsetto to baritone up to his unmistakable androgynous vocal tone.
The true Anagnorisis for Asaf Avidan, the true revelation, is that complexity, variety, and confusion are part of human existence, so there is never a single moment of clarity that represents more truth than any other.
