A path started in the summer with an analysis of the situation of tourism in the city, which saw the shared commitment of 150 entrepreneurs, public institutions, trade associations, and the academic and non-profit world, coordinated by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Labor of Roma Capitale and with the support of Zétema Progetto Cultura.
The results of FUTOUROMA 2019> 2025, the Strategic Tourism Plan for Rome, were presented at the futuristic Convention Center La Nuvola of the EUR district: combining the past, present, and future of the city, it develops a unified strategy in the name of quality and social, environmental and economic sustainability. Objective: to identify needs and devise solutions, adapt the tourist offer to increasingly higher quality standards, protect the artistic heritage, grow up in a sustainable way, confirm itself as one of the most visited art cities at European level and internationally and, at the same time, spread the image of a living, innovative, active and future-oriented metropolis.
10 are the areas of intervention identified: the attractiveness, with the creation of unique events and the strengthening of services; accessibility, with the promotion of sustainable mobility, the implementation of multilingual tourist signage and the strengthening of the urban transport network; competitiveness; management and innovation; sustainability and inclusion; hospitality; Intelligence and data, with monitoring of Destination Reputation, online flows and satisfaction index; awareness-raising, to improve the visitor's experience by involving taxis, local police and means of transport; Governance and financing, to strengthen collaboration between public and private stakeholders; and finally training and professionalization.
Among the actions planned, the launch of the Made in Rome label to certify the quality of the offer of tourist accommodation in general, the creation of a tourist Police task force to fight the phenomenon of illegal accommodation, and the establishment of a Destination Management Organization (DMO) with mixed public-private participation, to foster the cooperation of all stakeholders.
