From Rome to Cortina with the new tourist night train

from 28 November 2023 to 24 February 2024

A new and evocative travel experience from the Eternal City to the ‘Queen of the Dolomites’: on every weekend from 15 December to 25 February 2024, with some additional runs during the Christmas period (18 December to 3 January), the new Espresso Cadore train will cover the distance between Rome and Cortina d’Ampezzo, one of the most chic and glamorous destinations in the Alps, travelling at night.

The service (tickets are already on sale on Trenitalia’s website) aims to attract more and more tourists by enticing them to choose trains for their holidays and is the first itinerary proposed by FS Treni Turistici Italiani, the new FS Group company dedicated to sustainable tourism and created with the aim of putting old railway carriages back on the tracks along some of Italy’s most beautiful and scenic routes.

The Espresso Cadore is made up of wagons decommissioned in the 1980s and 1990s and refurbished for maximum comfort. It will depart from Roma Termini at 9.40 p.m. and arrive in Calalzo at 7.57 a.m., from where a bus service will take 50 minutes to Cortina d'Ampezzo. On board, passengers can choose between single or double sleeping cabins, which also include dinner and breakfast service in the ticket, and 4- or 6-seat couchettes, which can also be reserved entirely for group travel. Travellers have at their disposal a restaurant car, with made-in-Italy products, a bar service and dedicated spaces for transporting bicycles and sports equipment.
