Music, theater and cinema: all the #laculturaincasa events from 23 to 29 March

Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
from 21 March 2020 to 29 March 2020

For all music, theater and cinema lovers, there is a varied program including new appointments, insights, and videos

In addition to podcasts with art, history and music lessons, the Auditorium - Parco della Musica provides talks and meetings (On Saturday 28 March, with Ascanio Celestini and Gianrico Carofiglio), and virtual guided tours to discover the architectural beauties of the work by Renzo Piano. At the Casa del Jazz, it is possible to enjoy live concerts with famous jazz musicians, including Enrico Pieranunzi, Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu. Thanks to Rai Cultura, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia presents three concerts directed by Antonio Pappano: Berlioz’s “La Grande Messe des Morts”; a program dedicated to Beethoven; and the Concert for two pianos of Martinů, followed by the Gloria by Poulenc and Mozart’s Haffner Symphony. The “on line for kids” section also publishes fun video clips, with musical activities to do at home, material for studying music, tutorials, and fairy tales.

At the Teatro di Roma, the first week of online daily events opens with a talk on Chekhov’s “Cherry Garden”, followed by a double appointment with Lino Guanciale and Monica Demuru, reading Ennio Flaiano and Boccaccio, respectively. Among the proposals for the weekend, do not miss the first video interview of the “Persone” cycle by Daria Deflorian and the “Conversazioni in diretta streaming” section, with a dialogue between Giorgio Barberio Corsetti and Alessandro Serra. Children can enjoy evening fairy tales and a tutorial by Piero Gabrielli dedicated to children with and without disabilities.

At the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the “Teatro digitale” season continues with three great events: “The Bassarids” by Hans Werner Henze; Christoph Willibald Gluck’s “Orpheus and Eurydice”; and an unmissable “Madama Butterfly”. Romaeuropa Festival also opens its archives: among the video pills of this week, there are interviews with international artists, such as Aurelien Bory and Les 7 Doigts. The 2018 edition of the festival is available on Rai Play, while the meetings between artists and the public can be heard from the Rai Radio 3 web pages. Furthermore, the appointment with #MemoRef continues: a challenge addressed to all fans of the festival, called to recognize past shows through the shots of the photographer Piero Tauro.

As regards cinema, the “Extra Doc Festival”, the competition organized by the MAXXI museum and dedicated to the best Italian documentaries, continues with 8 “micro-lessons” by the curator Mario Sesti. The social channels @romacityfest pay homage to the director Agnès Varda, while on @romacinemafest it is possible to review or rediscover the films of the film festival’s past edition. At the Casa del Cinema, in addition to the sections “La cineteca del direttore” and “La parola al critico”, starting on Monday 29, a new space will be inaugurated to host the best of the “I lunedì della Cineteca” (for example, the meeting “Camilleri according to Camilleri”, with Andrea Camilleri, Marco Bellocchio, Giancarlo Giannini, Carlo Verdone, Alfredo Baldi, Pif and Felice Laudadio). The Nuovo Cinema Aquila proposes #ildiariodellachiusura, with the best films chosen through surveys and with the short films that triumphed at the first edition of “Free Aquila”.

All information and updates are available on the websites and the social channel @culturaroma, #iorestoacasa and #laculturaincasa.
