The Vigneto Italia harvest feast returns to the Botanical Garden of Rome with two days dedicated to the first wine produced from the grapes of the beautiful garden on the slopes of the Janiculum hill.
It is an unmissable event for connoisseurs, wine lovers and families: the program includes tastings, themed workshops, treasure hunts for adults and children, open-air readings, guided tours - including the Japanese Garden and the new Il Viaggio dell'Uva (a step-guided-tour dedicated to the wine processing phases), seminars on the nuances of wine with Luca Maroni and on body care, dermo-cosmetics and circular economy, meetings on Italian viticultural biodiversity, grapes and vineyard, open-air toasts, artisan jewellery, eco-friendly and organic body care products and gastronomic delights stands, and street food trucks for a delicious lunch or a tasty snack.
With the native Italian vines - selected by Luca Maroni and planted in the Vigneto Italia in February 2018 - 600 half-litre bottles of Somma Sapienza were produced, a true nectar in a limited edition and not available for sale. The label, Somma dell'Italia vinicola ed Enologica Sapienza (Lit. Trans. Sum of Italy's wine and Enological Sapienza), was born from 79 grape varieties for the white wine and 76 for the red, including Passerina, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Fiano d'Avellino, Greco di Tufo , Malvasia Aromatica di Piacenza, Bellone and Moscato di Terracina, Montepulciano and Aglianico del Vulture, Piedirosso Campania, Lambrusco di Sorbara, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Lacrima del Morro d'Alba.
The Vigneto Italia is a genuine Ampelographic Museum, realised by the famous sensory analyst, with the Botanical Garden Museum - Sapienza University of Rome, in partnership with Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo. The vines are located in a dedicated area of the Botanical Garden, hosting over 155 varieties from all regions of Italy, grown in a biodynamic way.
