An entire week dedicated to contemporary dance to celebrate the 25 years of activity of Spellbound Contemporary Ballet, one of the most plural and internationalized Roman dance companies. Initially scheduled for 2020, the event was postponed to 2021 due to pandemic’s restrictions and marks Spellbound’s return to the Capitoline scene after a period of absence.
The week opens on Tuesday 9 November with a two-day event dedicated to Dancing Partners, an itinerant network project born in 2013: the program on stage at Teatro Vascello includes extracts from After the Party by the Spanish company Thomas Noone Dance, the national premiere of Ordinary People by the German collective Frantics Dance Company, Amaranthine by the English Company Chameleon and Ascent by Spellbound Contemportary Ballet.
From 11 to 14 November the Spellbound dancers will stage four creations every evening: two choral projects – Marte by Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau and Wonder Bazaar by Mauro Astolfi – and two solo projects, Affi by German choreographer Marco Goecke and the new Unknown Woman by Mauro Astolfi dedicated to an extraordinary interpreter, Maria Cossu.
