Roma Jewelry Week 2024

The appointment with the Rome Jewelry Week 2024, an international event which aims to enhance and spread the culture of contemporary jewellery, designer jewellery, artist jewelery and the historical goldsmith realities of the city of Rome, is renewed. The event is made up of numerous initiatives with the participation of over 170 artists and designers from all over the world, who, through the RJW, have the opportunity to exhibit their creations.

The event, now in its fourth edition, takes place at the Trajan's Markets-Museum of the Imperial Fora from 4 to 6 October: a week full of events including exhibitions, workshops, conferences and tours.

This year's theme, entitled Infinito Barocco (Infinite Baroque), is characterized by a richness of events. This year, in fact, the RJW celebrates the 401st anniversary of Il Saggiatore by Galileo Galilei, a treatise that revolutionized the concept of modern science, based on observation and experimentation. Therefore the 2024 edition is ideally linked to Baroque art which, spread between the 16th and 17th centuries, became an expression of wonder, as it attempted to represent - especially in painting - three-dimensional space without geometric limits, creating scenographic illusions through perspectives complex, so as to reflect man's attitude towards the evolving world. Theatrics, spectacularity, together with technical virtuosity characterized this period, as well as a common feeling of instability and social uncertainty, all aspects that make this era similar to the current condition, a consequence of the historical events of recent years and the new technological revolution.

For this reason the RJW has chosen "Infinite Baroque" as its theme, a theme that aims to be a reflection on social, economic and cultural changes, through the art of contemporary jewellery. At the centre of the event is in fact the exploration of a different conception of the infinite derived from science and contemporary philosophy, through different techniques and materials, a true experimentation, which uses a contemporary reinterpretation of the past.

The initiative, conceived by the architect Monica Cecchini, director of the project and promoted by the Incinque Open Art Monti association, this year saw the organizational and logistical collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality I of Rome Centre together with the Department of Culture and Department of Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion - Municipality of Rome and Lazio Region; we also remember the collaboration of VIVE-Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia and the metropolitan city of Rome Capital.
