“Roma è di Moda. Via Veneto Edition" is a show conceived and curated by Stefano Dominella, with the artistic direction of Guillermo Mariotto and the organizational coordination of Zètema Progetto Cultura, promoted by Roma Capitale and Assessorato Moda, Grandi Eventi, Turismo e Sport.
The event, presented by Pino Strabioli with Ema Stokholma, includes a succession of fashion paintings interpreted by international models. The fashion show alternates with dance performances seeing the extraordinary participation of the étoile Alessio Rezza and the dancers of the Corps de Ballet of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, performing on a choreography by Giovanni Castelli about inclusion and allowing the audience to enter into an atmosphere of rare beauty.
Actresses Nancy Brilli and Paola Minaccioni interpret passages taken from works related to Federico Fellini, Ennio Flaiano and Anna Magnani. Images dedicated to a revisited "Dolce Vita" are projected on the big screen, with the presence of the master Rino Barillari, the protagonist of the tribute to the iconic Paparazzi.
One hundred dresses, emotions to be worn with renewed awareness and respect for the planet, tell six fashion stories full of culture, art, and high craftsmanship directed by Rossano Giuppa. The creations of Stefano Dominella's private historical archive open the show. These are clothes made by the couturiers who left their mark on Italian haute couture: from Antonelli to Irene Galitzine, from Fabiani to Valentino, from Lancetti to Sarli, fashion creators who, starting from Rome, launched the made in Italy in the world.
Following is the tribute to Anita Ekberg, the splendid protagonist of the film "La Dolce Vita", who appears wrapped in the original black velvet mermaid dress, surrounded by dozens of paparazzi-actors on the vibrant notes of Michele Civitano's trumpet and the percussion of the TORQ Percussion Quartet.
Lineapiù Italia - a leading company and flagship in fine yarns presenting some creations from its archive, the designers Alessandro Consiglio, Guillermo Mariotto, Francesca Liberatore and the young Federico Firoldi are guests on the 30-meter stage, designed for the occasion in front of the majestic Porta Pinciana. On the schedule is a tribute to Maestro Brunello Cucinelli through the creation of a tableau vivant with some iconic outfits of the Maison of Solomeo worn by a group of young collaborators forming a "Family Portrait".
Lineapiù Italia, a leading company in research yarns, has exceptionally opened the doors of its historical archive, revealing unpublished charms to wear. A continuous dialogue between excellence and Made in Italy. Year after year, Lineapiù Italia, founded in 1975 in Capalle, near Florence, by Giuliano Coppini, guarantees research and innovation to the textile sector. It is a brand that has changed the profile of knitwear in Italy and the world, with a common thread that continues to flow in the warp and weft of knit stitches and dream yarns.
Guillermo Mariotto, a multifaceted designer, has been committed for years with his collections to promoting an idea of fashion that is as respectful of the environment as possible, without renouncing a creative inspiration free from restraints or inhibitions.
On the stage are also creations realised with recycled rubber by Ecopneus, a show partner company that works for tracing, collection, treatment and recovery of end-of-life tires. Leftovers of high-quality fabrics, tailored cuts, and innovative designs are combined with products made of recycled rubber. This union gives life to a dreamlike world, which wants to tell the increasingly topical importance of protecting the environment through art. Recycled rubber rises on the stage both as part of the scenography and in the clothes made ad hoc for the performance. This recycled material becomes an artistic element for the first time, thanks to a world in which creativity and the ability to see the future can give it a new shape.
And, again, Francesca Liberatore. Passion and determination distinguish the Italian designer who raised the name of Made in Italy, even overseas: in 2014, she won the DHL Exported and IMG world competition which allowed her to walk the catwalks of the Lincoln Center Salon, The Dock Skylight at Moynihan Station, Gallery 1 of Clarkson Square, of the New York Fashion Week. She is exceptionally in Rome to present a selection of Iconic pieces of her universe in a continuous search between tradition and contemporaneity.
For the refined and experimental eco-couture of Alessandro Consiglio, accompanied by the notes of the sopranist Paolo Anziliero adorned with the ethical jewels of Andrea Falcioni's DiamonDiamond srl, here are splendid coats made with crocheted old VHS ribbons. The Little sponges stolen from housework become a 17th-century gate that adorns an outerwear of rare beauty. The bags by Marta Giacomini, made with the plates of old radiographs, complete Consiglio's outfits. Unusual materials, Recycle that generates Stendhal syndrome: a true hymn to sustainability that does not give up on glamour.
"Saving the Planet with Upcycling" is the imperative of the gender-free designer Federico Firoldi, who tells it through a world of colours, processes, techniques and ethical and eco-sustainable materials. His collection is an invitation to the dance of life, actively participating in the glamorous awakening of the planet Earth. Firoldi supports a fashion keeping up with the concepts of non-binary gender and eco-sustainability. He carries on his eponymous brand by creating garments that can be worn by anyone who wants to wear them, recovering second-hand items of clothing and materials.
Finally, the homage to the guest of honour, the designer-entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli, whose creations are an ode to cultured beauty. He lives in a perfect balance between ethics and harmony of the world. His wearable emotions reaffirm the link between fashion and art and between design and ethics. Brunello Cucinelli and the entire group of his collaborators are the ideal ambassadors of Made in Italy in the world.
