The exhibition, set up in the Hall of the Temple of Vibia Sabina and Hadrian of the Chamber of Commerce near the Pantheon, is organised by the Istituto Autonomo Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este – VILLÆ, with the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, and presents to the public the imperial portraiture from Hadrian’s Villa in Tivoli, through a selection of ten marble sculptures, placing the themes of celebration and propaganda in the Roman age in the foreground, with particular reference to the emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD), who commissioned the Tiburtine complex.
The Chamber of Commerce of Rome has among its main institutional purposes the development of the local economy, also through the enhancement of cultural heritage and tourism promotion. Together with the Institute of Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este, the Chamber has developed numerous initiatives, such as the exhibition of the colossal statue of Vibia Sabina, Hadrian’s wife, at its headquarters; the financing for the restoration of the hemicycle of the Fontana dell’Ovato in the garden of Villa d’Este in Tivoli, returned to public use; the support for the exhibition I am a force of the past: Hadrian, the portraits, at the Mouseia of Villa Adriana.
