The Roman Theater of Ancient Ostia is the evocative setting for the concert by the Xilon Orchestra, which once again pays homage to the musical genius of Ennio Morricone after the great success of last new year's event at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
The extraordinary appointment, organized in collaboration with the Federazione dei Cori del Lazio, sees the participation of about 200 choristers from numerous choral realities, including the Muzio Clementi Polyphonic Choir of Civita Castellana, accompanied by the capitoline ensemble directed by maestro Paolo Matteucci.
Immortal soundtracks and some little-known pages accompany the audience on an exciting musical journey along the history of some of the masterpieces of world cinema and part of the exceptional production of the roman composer.
Born in 1928, a composer, conductor and arranger, Ennio Morricone reached international fame in 1961 with the music created for Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns; a friendship and artistic partnership that bring to life the unforgettable sounds of movies like A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West. He collaborated with the most famous italian and international directors, including Pier Paolo Pasolini, Bernardo Bertolucci, Giuseppe Tornatore, Brian de Palma, Roman Polanski, and Oliver Stone, composing hundreds of soundtracks and receiving multiple awards and recognitions, including an honorary Oscar, a Golden Lion, 7 David di Donatello, 3 Golden Globes, 8 Nastri d'argento (silver ribbons) and many gold and platinum discs.
