The show at the Gigi Proietti Globe Theatre Silvano Toti presents Shakespeare's Macbeth in the original version staged by three actors, who retrace the entire work passing through the key scenes, in order to give us a representation in the simplest and most effective way possible. The essential scenography and the few objects on stage contribute to giving this image.
The five-act opera is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy, and has often been referred to by critics as his most complex and multifaceted work. Published in 1623, performed and adapted over the centuries, Macbeth has become the archetype par excellence of the desire for unbridled power and its dangers. The action takes place in an unspecified time, while the rhythm of the work is marked by horror and anguish. The drama is also pervaded with mystery and irrationality, darkness and night dominate; the word “fear” often recurs accompanied by images of blood and violence.
