La città ideale

Now in its eighth edition, the Multidisciplinary Festival La Città Ideale brings live entertainment and culture to Villa De Sanctis and the streets, bars and parks of Rome’s suburbs Prenestino and Centocelle with a rich program of free events, suitable for all ages, ranging from circus to music, and to narrative theatre, with new formats and great returns.

In the park of Villa De Sanctis, 12 artistic formations are ready to take turns in as many shows during the Circo Ideale, under the banner of the New Circus, juggling, Chinese poles and lots of fun for adults and children. Until 25 July, every Saturday and Sunday spectators will be entertained not only by shows but also by innovative circus workshops. New formats include: Edicole, to celebrate the Italian newsstands that for years have represented a social stronghold in small villages and a reference point for the neighborhoods of large cities; Bar Campioni, to tell the stories of the sportsmen who have most marked Italian history, the anecdotes, successes and failures that have studded the national sporting universe; and Operai all’Opera, to relive the emotions of Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot, rewritten and reinterpreted from the point of view of the workers behind the scenes.

This year's edition once again features a tried and tested and much-loved format: Cento Voci, the concert in which various choral groups perform, singing a cappella, and offering new and original arrangements of the Italian and international songs that have made their mark on music history.
