Allestimento Terrazza di Venere ph. Giuseppe D'Aleo

The suggestive spaces of the Temple of Venus and Rome host the personal exhibition of the Milanese artist, chosen by the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo as part of the ninth edition of the Level 0 project of ArtVerona 2021.

The twelve marble sculptures displayed create a common thread between the past, present and future. The works, conceived specifically for the remains of the temple commissioned by the emperor Hadrian, were made with the valuable marbles used in Roman architecture of the imperial age - Cipollino, Portoro, Collemandina red, Paonazzo, Fiordipesco and Carrara white - and come to life from waste stones and boulders from works of extraction, unsuitable for marketing.

Curated by Daniele Fortuna, the exhibition winds in two adjacent areas of the largest known sacred building of ancient Rome: the cell dedicated to the goddess Roma, the personification of the city, which houses nine works from the Korai series, from the Greek κόρη (girl), referring to a female votive statue, which, placed in a circle, show the passage of time on the layers of their marble; the cell of Venus, mother of Aeneas and progenitor of the Gens Iulia, where the evocative Stonegate creates an imaginary time portal and the heart and light of matter reveal themselves in the two Golden Sections.

The exhibition project is promoted by the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, the Atipografia art gallery, directed by Elena dal Molin, and ArtVerona.
