The City of Pizza 2023 is back in Rome for its eighth edition; the event brings together the best master pizza chefs in Italy at the Travertino Arch and the Linear Park of the same name, to introduce and taste all types of pizza: Neapolitan, Italian, Roman, tasting, thick and gluten-free.
In the three days of the event, as in past editions, each pizza chef offers the public two pizza recipes: one traditional - margherita or marinara and another representative of their art and identity. The first appointment is Friday 20 October, from 6 pm, with eight great pizza masters: Ciro Salvo, Ivano Veccia, Marco Quintili, Antonio Falco, Mattia Lattanzio e Giovanni Giglio, Andrea Renzi, Sami El Sabawy e Iacopo Alberti. On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd October, however, young people will compete for the title and prize of the best emerging pizza chef in Italy.
Many free workshops and technical meetings held in collaboration with OONI, to raise awareness of bread-making techniques, the choice of ingredients for the topping and the pairing with beer and wines; there are also workshops for children. All appointments are free entry and can be booked at the event while places last.
The Talks and Technical Meetings are led by Luciano Pignataro and Luciana Squadrilli and held by the Great Master Pizza Chefs who discuss the latest trends in the sector.
