The traditional 1000 Miles race is held again this year; the 2025 edition takes place from Tuesday 17th to Saturday 21st June.
The historic-sporting event, for the third consecutive year, is five days long and retraces the legendary pre-war races, following a “figure eight” route like that of the first 12 editions of the 1000 Miles speed race. On Tuesday 17 June, the over 400 cars admitted to the race pass through Desenzano, Sirmione, Verona, Bovolone and Ferrara, to then conclude the day of racing in San Lazzaro di Savena, a municipality in the metropolitan city of Bologna.
On the second day, the historic cars continue their race towards the Raticosa and Futa Passes. After passing through Prato and Siena, the cars head towards Rome before heading back up towards the North; in Rome, the cars parade through the historic centre, with a sporting arrival at Villa Borghese and a catwalk along via Veneto. After the Capital, the Red Arrow is in Orvieto, Foiano della Chiana, Arezzo and San Sepolcro; the return to San Marino precedes the arrival of the third stage in Cervia-Milano Marittima. On the fourth day, the legendary race crosses the whole of Italy from East to West: starting again from Cervia, the 1000 Miles 2025 touches Forlì before cutting through the Apennines to Empoli, where the uphill route crosses the one taken two days earlier on the descent towards Rome.
Keeping the direction to the West, the Red Arrow first reaches Pontedera and then the Tyrrhenian coast with the passage from the Naval Academy of the Navy in Livorno, to then resume the climb through Viareggio and the Cisa Pass and arrive at the penultimate stage in Parma before arriving in Brescia.
The Mille Miglia is a long-distance road car race held in Italy in 24 editions between 1927 and 1957; since 1977 the Mille Miglia has been revived in the form of a historic stage race. It is a speed race in line with start and finish in Brescia in which the competitors arrive in Rome through Central-Northern Italy. The name of the race derives from the length of the route; in fact, despite several variations over the years, it always remained about 1600 kilometers equivalent to about one thousand Roman imperial miles.
