
The concert of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare (New Company of Popular Music) retraces the stages of an extraordinary, long career made up of fifty years of success.
Formed in 1970, the Company was founded with the intention of transmitting the authentic Neapolitan musical tradition of which it represents the most genuine expression. After the great success achieved at the Spoleto Festival in 1972 and 1974, the group has appeared in all the most important festivals in Europe and in the world.
In their latest work, Napoli 1534, much appreciated also by foreign critics and awarded with the Targa Tenco as best album in dialect, the group measures itself with moresche and villanelle, in a repertoire in which the exceptional ability of the musicians and above all of the singer Fausta Vetere.
The concert is also intended as a tribute to the memory of Corrado Sfogli, artistic director of the musical formation who died prematurely.
