Reopened to the public after being completely renovated and redeveloped, the Gardens of via Sannio are a green area a stone's throw from the Basilica of St. John Lateran and the San Giovanni metro C station.
The garden is of about 9,500 square meters and offers citizens and residents a meeting place full of greenery and a playground for the little ones, giving a new face to the whole area close to the Aurelian Walls and Porta Asinaria.
On the surface of the new garden, the trace of the imposing portico, built during the empire of Claudius, found during the excavations for metro C, has been re-proposed.
The garden redevelopment project is the result of the synergistic work between Roma Capitale, the Soprintendenza Speciale Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio di Roma, Metro C and Roma Metropolitane.
