RIF - Museo delle Periferie

Conceived and curated by Giorgio de Finis, RIF Museum of the Suburbs is a cooperative venture launched by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita Culturale, Municipio Roma VI (Tor Bella Monaca) and the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo to address the phenomenon of the suburb, the banlieue, in the broader context of an analysis of the city on a worldwide scale.

The aim of the museum and its multidisciplinary study center is to deepen the knowledge of the metropolises of the third millennium, but above all to imagine and contribute to creating, through artistic and relational practices, a more equitable, participatory, inclusive city: the city of all.

While waiting for a definitive location (the building will be built by private-sector entrepreneurs, as a compensatory public work, in Via dell’Archeologia in the Tor Bella Monaca district), the RIF begins its activities with a calendar of master classes, online every Sunday. There will also be a cycle of meetings on spaces and projects born in the city’s outskirts, preparatory to the creation of a “Guide to the suburbs of Rome”, and on the progress of the RIF's “ROMO” (ROmolo + reMO) twinning project between downtown and suburban districts entrusted to artists who will propose a “device” to facilitate the meeting between areas of the city that often do not know each other.

Site-specific interventions and art projects are also planned in the territory of Municipality VI, starting with the three murals for block R8 in Largo Ferruccio Mengaroni.
