Ex Piazza della Croce
On Monday 2 May 2011 at 4.30 p.m., a ceremony was held to name the Piazzale della Croce after John Paul II.
The square, which is located within the university grounds, is home to the large 39-metre-high cross erected for World Youth Day 2000, called by the then Pope John Paul II.
More than 2 million young people from all over the world attended the 2000 World Youth Day at Tor Vergata.
The University of Rome Tor Vergata wants to remember John Paul II on the occasion of his beatification.
