Oratorio di Santa Silvia al Celio

To the left of the oratory of St Andrews is the oratory of Santa Silvia, mother of Gregory the Great, built by Cardinal Baronio in 1602-1606. On the small facade a portal dominated by a horizontal window opens up. On the left hand side is a door with a dedicatory inscription. The interior, encompassing a unique nave, has a carved and decorated wooden ceiling dating back to 1609 and, in the middle, is the coat of arms of Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The apse, on the other hand, houses the fresco Concert of angels by Guido Reni and Sisto Badalocchio (1608-1609). On the altar is the statue of St Silvia, by Nicolas Cordier (1603-1604).
