The Museum of Art and Mining Ore Beds (Decorative Rocks) was originated by a donation of the Assomarmi Association and currently has about 150 slabs of decorative rocks coming from the most important Italian mining districts. Both the petrographic characteristics of the rocks (slates, marbles, granites, and calcarenites) and their regional production in still active or already disused quarries are documented by explanatory panels, geological charts, and photographs. The plates are cataloged according to two criteria: the geologic formation indicating the source and the commercial denomination, used more frequently for the identification.
