Library of the Portuguese Institute of Sant’Antonio

Biblioteca dell’Istituto Portoghese di Sant’Antonio-Foto sito ufficiale dell'IPSAR

The Library is located inside the Portuguese Institute of Sant'Antonio in the Campo Marzio area, near Navona Square and has various bibliographic nuclei for Lusophile studies, especially in the context of religious and political history, of language, literature and music.

Its holdings, cataloged in 1995 by the librarians Maria Graça Pericão and Maria Isabel Faria, at the time reached about 6700 volumes, but, in recent years, this number has doubled thanks to numerous acquisitions and donations.

In particular, we point out that, in 2015, after renovation and expansion works, the Luciana Stegagno Picchio Bibliographic Fund was inaugurated, dedicated to the philologist, cultural historian, literary critic, expert in medieval Lusitanian literature, history of Portuguese theater and Brazilian literature who donated her entire library to the Institute - about 14,000 volumes - which served as a basis for her studies and which allowed her to sign over 500 publications dedicated to Lusophone literatures and cultures.

The IPSAR Library today is distributed in 8 rooms and occupies a total of 760 meters of shelving.
