The Institute Giovanni Treccani for the publication of the Italian Encyclopedia was founded in Rome in 1925 by the magnate Giovanni Treccani and the philosopher Giovanni Gentile.
At the moment the institute not only adds appendices and indeces to the Encyclopedia, but also publishes important publications. Since 1997 the Treccani has developed, together with the Ministry of Education, the "Project School" to support the process of renewal of Italian educational system.
