The show Matilda the Musical arrives in Italy for the first time at the Sistina Theater directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo. Based on the famous 1988 novel of the same name by the English writer Roald Dahl (also author of The Chocolate Factory) and which became a fun film by Danny De Vito, Matilda is a show suitable for the whole family.
At the centre of the story we find Matilda, a little girl with a lively and uncommon intelligence, passionate about books and very curious by nature, who also has special powers thanks to which she is able to make objects move with the sole force of her thought. The little girl lives an unhappy life because she is not loved or understood by her parents and brother and therefore, to get noticed, she often comes up with pranks and mischief. His life at home and at school, however, is not at all simple; fortunately, by cultivating stories and tales and also thanks to the meeting with two important women for her - the teacher Miss Jennifer "Jenny" Honey and the bookseller Mrs Felpa - who show her affection, understanding and great esteem, Matilda manages to find her "salvation". In fact, all three together will team up to counter the misdeeds of the evil Miss Agatha Trunchbull, headmaster of the school.
A wonderful story that celebrates friendship, courage and love for books and knowledge and which above all sends an important message of hope to the young generations.
Among the main performers we remember: Giulia Chiovelli - daughter of an artist and child prodigy, who specialized at the Accademia del Sistina - in the role of Matilda, Luca Ward en travesti in the role of the fearsome headmaster Trunchbull and the couple of The Pozzolis Family (Alice Mangione and Gianmarco Pozzoli) as Matilda's cynical and clumsy parents. Music and lyrics: Tim Minchin, lyrics: Dennis Kelly.
