The Real Academia de España en Roma presents the exhibition dedicated to comics, an extraordinary visual medium capable of reaching the general public and, at the same time, a sophisticated tool that portrays time, space, stories and desires in two dimensions.
In the year of the 150th anniversary of the foundation, Raccontare un monte d'oro. 10 anni di fumetti in Accademia (Telling a golden mountain. 10 years of comics in the Academy) celebrates one of the disciplines that, for ten years, have animated the ancient convent on Mons Aureo, a center for artistic residences and a generator of stories.
The exhibition path is set up in three spaces: the cloister, dedicated to the present; the hall, recalling the past with the works created in Rome; the terrace, an evocative city view and an invitation to future stories. It winds through the eyes of seventeen artists, six female authors and eleven male Spanish and Latin American authors, who entered the Academy with the scholarship in comics and illustration, intertwining their careers with their stay in Rome and the prestigious Spanish institution.
The works of Tyto Alba, Carla Berrocal, Ana Bustelo, Joan Casaramona, Miguel Cuba, Yeyei Gomez, Julia Huete, Martin Lopez Lam, Los Bravu (Dea Gomez And Diego Omil), Alvaro Ortiz, Federico Pazos, Brais Rodriguez, Javier Saez Castan, Antonia Santolaya, and Joaquín Secall, who return to the Academy, recall and tell their personal and artistic experience, living and creating in the Complex on the Janiculum Hill, through the art of the tebeo (comics).
