Wednesday 25 May, at 5 pm, the historic centre of Rome is the backdrop for the traditional parade of the Italia Polo Challenge teams, the arena polo tournament included in the program of the prestigious competition CSIO Piazza di Siena.
The polo players start from the Ara Pacis, go along via Tomacelli, and reach the elegant via dei Condotti. Then, from the heart of shopping, a stone's throw from Piazza di Spagna, they go back towards Largo San Rocco.
The evocative parade of riders and horses, accompanied by the Fanfare of the IV Regiment of Carabinieri, opens the 89th edition of the historical four-day equestrian event in the oval of Piazza di Siena and the Galoppatoio.
The Italia Polo Challenge tournament sees four teams - Tenuta Montemagno, U.S. Polo Assn., Harpa Pure and Gennargentu - with three players per team, who compete on the Galoppatoio field. It starts on 26 and 27 May with the two qualifying matches and ends on Saturday 28 May with the final for 1st and 2nd place.
