At the Auditorium Parco della Musica the Accademia di Santa Cecilia Orchestra and the soprano Asmik Grigorian perform Dosàna nóva - in the world premiere - by Claudio Ambrosini, the Four last lieder by Richard Strauss and Symphony n.10 by Dmítrij Shostakovich, under the direction of Maestro Antonio Pappano.
In Dosàna nóva (in Venetian for "new wave") by the Venetian composer Claudio Ambrosini, recently appointed Full Academician and awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Music Biennale in 2007, the idea of the "changing" sound is highlighted - that is, the continuous transformation of instrumental timbres – the use of sound perspectives and the creation of acoustic illusions, which Ambrosini calls “trompe-l’oreille”.
In Strauss' Four Last Lieder, composed for soprano and orchestra between 1946 and 1948 on texts by Hermann Hesse and dedicated by the great musician to his wife, the whole seems to summarize the cycle of life, from spring to the dying sun of twilight.
Finally, Shostakovich's Symphony No.10 in E minor (Op. 93) of 1953 in four movements, characterized by a tormented language, full of chiaroscuro and allusions, can be considered the representation of the years of Stalinist oppression.
