
The European Days of Archeology 2022 (GEA) take place from 17 to 19 June, an initiative created and managed by Inrap, the National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research of France (Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives) and from there it spread throughout ‘Europe.
The European Days of Archeology in Italy are organized by the Ministry of Culture - Directorate General for Museums and Directorate General for Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape and are dedicated to all those who want to discover the way of archeology and its secrets: sector operators, organizations research centers, universities, museums and archaeological sites, laboratories, associations, archive centres and local communities organize innovative, original and interactive activities for the general public.
The 2021 GEAs were a real success with around 1,400 initiatives in Europe and the participation of 26 European countries that proposed over 830 initiatives and decreed the success of these days. In particular, more than 570 events took place in France: extraordinary opening of excavation sites, educational and recreational activities, archeology villages, meetings with researchers, visits to laboratories, exhibitions and screenings.
