After the months of closure due to the health emergency, the season of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia is going to start again with an increasingly rich and interesting program and the participation of great names in music. This year Sir Antonio Pappano, for the fifteenth year at the helm of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, is on the podium for eight productions., directing also the inauguration concert.
The Sala Santa Cecilia presents two monumental works by two great Austrian composers for the occasion. Chosen after careful reflections on the repertoire, Bruckner's inspired Te Deum opens the evening, "a cry, a liberation, a splendor in C major", in the words of Maestro Pappano, to announce the return of great live music. This will be followed by Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, last performed by the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in 2012.
The choir and orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, with the mezzo-soprano Gerhild Romberger, the tenors Clay Hilley and Anselmo Fabiani, the soprano Donika Mataj, the alto Daniela Salvo and the bass Antonio Vincenzo Serra contribute to donating majesty, solemnity and warmth to the compositions.
