Officially started with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on 24 December 2024, the Jubilee 2025 is the 27th ordinary universal jubilee in the history of the Church.
The entire jubilee period is characterized by a rich calendar of religious, cultural and social events. Aside from celebrations and rituals addressed to all the faithful, the Holy Year’s program includes several “jubilees” dedicated to different categories of people, identified according to specific professions or their role within the family, the Church and society. Each one includes moments of dialogue and spirituality, with a concluding mass celebrated by the pope.
The days from 26 to 28 September are dedicated to catechists and spiritual trainers, who are invited to participate in the jubilee events together with their families. The celebrations will open Friday, 26 September, with a pilgrimage to the Holy Door and opportunities for confession in the Jubilee churches. In the afternoon, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Diocese of Rome will welcome all participants in Piazza San Giovanni. The program for the following day will include the pilgrimage to the holy door and the option of confession (from 2 p.m.) and catechesis sessions in the various Jubilee churches in language groups (from 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.). The Jubilee of Catechists will end on Sunday, 28 September, with the traditional Sunday Mass presided over by the Pope and the institution of new catechists. Entrance to St. Peter’s Square on this occasion is completely free and does not require any type of ticket.
