More than 70,000 people at the Circus Maximus to celebrate the arrival of 2025

Capodanno 2025
1 January 2025

On 31 December, over 70,000 people gathered at the Circus Maximus to celebrate the arrival of 2025. A great success for Rome's New Year's Eve, animated by five hours of music with an extraordinary cast of some of the most nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.

The event began at 8.45 p.m. with the Taekwondo show, followed at 9 p.m. by the performance of the emerging bands Cosmonauti Borghesi and Origami Smiles, in memory of Francesco Valdiserri.

At 9.30 p.m., singer and actor Andrea Rivera took the stage, singing a song against the abandonment of animals and in favour of their adoption, as the special guest of the Orchestraccia, who performed a great homage to Rome and its protagonists - such as Marcello Mastroianni, Ennio Flaiano, Ennio Morricone, Gabriella Ferri - with the large led wall behind the band projecting their faces.

At around 10 p.m., the audience went ham dancing to the rhythm of the pizzica salentina by the Orchestra Popolare La Notte della Taranta. From 10.30 p.m., Franz Di Cioccio, voice and drums, and the extraordinary musicians of PFM Premiata Forneria Marconi performed the most iconic songs from their memorable concerts with Fabrizio De André, from Bocca di Rosa to Il pescatore, as well as their great successes such as Impressioni di settembre.

At 11.10 p.m., a further performance by the Orchestra Popolare La Notte della Taranta preceded the entrance of the eagerly awaited Culture Club with Boy George, who, from 11.30 p.m., with the midnight toast and institutional greetings on stage break, accompanied the audience until half past midnight. The band opened the concert with a touching Purple Rain by Prince and performed unforgettable songs, including Karma Chameleon, Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, It's a Miracle, Church of the Poison Mind. Boy George also sang Pino Donaggio's song Io che non vivo (senza te) in Italian with the entire audience.

Finally, the public danced until 2 a.m. to the hits of the famous deejay and producer Gabry Ponte

Mariachiara Belardo, voice of Dimensione Suono Soft, Don Cash of Dimensione Suono Roma, and DJ Mauro Zavadava Mandolesi also took part in the event.

Roma Capitale's New Year's Eve was organised in collaboration with Dimensione Suono Soft and Dimensione Suono Roma.
