He speaks three languages, has a sense of humor and knows all about the history of the monuments but also about schedules, tickets, events and services. After 2,000 years, Emperor Nero returns to life as an exceptional tour guide in the project designed and promoted by the Colosseum Archaeological Park in collaboration with Italian company Machineria and French company Ask Mona, a leader in the creation of conversation tools, artificial intelligence and data analysis.
A chatbot (from “chat” and “robot”) is software that simulates and processes human conversations, giving users the ability to interact with digital devices quickly and intuitively. In the version developed by the Colosseum visitors can converse with Emperor Nero, who wears a toga and a radiated crown as he is shown in some coins from the years of his principate.
Since February, the new IT tool has joined social channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and email or phone calls in managing online relations with the public, with the aim of involving new generations. To chat with Nero, just go to the home page of the park's website: in the lower right corner of your PC, smartphone or tablet screen, with a conversation window similar to a messaging app, the emperor is waiting smilingly for you standing in front of the Flavian Amphitheater. And if you ask him about the famous fire, he will tell you that his involvement is just fake news...
