VI edizione del Festival Treccani della lingua italiana

Conceived by Treccani Cultura, the Treccani Festival is the first festival entirely dedicated to the Italian language with the aim of emphasizing, through thematic meetings, workshops, round tables and performances, the value of words as a means of expression and reasoning, of sharing and confrontation, stimulating reflection and engaging the public and experts in a sincere dialogue.

At the center of this edition, dedicated to the memory of linguist and philologist Luca Serianni, is the word Stupore (amazement, wonder) explored through a multidisciplinary approach ranging from philosophy to physics, from geopolitics to artificial intelligence, from literature to art history and cinema. The word then provides access to the realm of linguistic research, in a world where the proliferation of new forms of language, the transformation of traditional syntactic structures, and the very new lexical creations, often destined for ephemeral life and circulation, cannot fail to arouse wonder.

In Rome, the Festival has the patronage of Roma Capitale and the organizational support of Zètema Progetto Cultura, and is divided into two parts. On Saturday and Sunday 27-28 May, Piazza Damiano Sauli in the Garbatella district will host lectures and meetings dedicated to some of the anniversaries that fall this year, from the centenary of Italo Calvino and Don Milani to the 80th birthday of Lucio Battisti and the 30th anniversary of the release of the film Caro Diario, screened in the square in an arena created for the occasion. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9-11 June, the Festival moves to the courtyard of Palazzo Braschi, in Piazza Navona: in addition to meetings and lectio magistralis, the three days will see various musical moments (for example, the Hymns and Songs of Struggle of the Resistance by the Choir of the Testaccio Popular School of Music and the meeting with rapper Fasma) to conclude on Sunday evening with the free concert “Mistico Mediterraneo” by Paolo Fresu and Daniele di Bonaventura.

All events are free admission. In case of rain, events on 27 and 28 May will be held at the Moby Dick Cultural Hub Library; events on 9, 10, 11 June in the Museum's Hall of Honor.
