Sponsored this year by the Holy See as a Jubilee 2025 sports event, SPQR Cup is the youth football tournament reserved for the Under-12 category. Now in its third edition, the tournament sees the participation of important professional clubs, such as Inter, Roma, Lazio and Frosinone, foreign clubs and national football schools, and despite the “very young age” of the event, it has become one of the most important completion, coveted at a regional level and beyond. The first edition in 2023 saw AS Roma triumph in the final against Inter, while in the second edition Frosinone became champion.
The competition is organized by the Sport Calcio Eventi association and Romulea, a sports club with an almost 100-year tradition that has been exclusively involved in football since 1946 with the aim of preparing young people for the world of professional football. The matches of the tournament are played in the “Campo Roma” sports center, one of Rome’s most attractive sports facilities, a few steps away from the Basilica of San Giovanni. Built in the 1930s and completed in the post-war period, “Campo Roma” is the historic home of Romulea and is now one of the most important sports facilities in the city, with synthetic grass pitches approved by the FIGC.
For the young participants, the tournament is also an opportunity to visit the Eternal City: the organizing committee has also planned moments dedicated to educational outings and guided tours, for an all-embracing and transversal experience.
