As in Wystan Hugh Auden's poem that gives the show its title so we attempt an investigation into what love is. Beyond. Beyond clichés. Beyond the sentimental tutorials, beyond the sentimentality of pre-packaged romanticisms and beyond the infinite love narratives that have stratified in us from films, books and songs, making us hostages of models and scripts. Everything in love today appears already seen, already felt, already known. So let's try to seek this truth.
That's what Stefano Massini, biting, ironic, unsettling pop narrator, investigator of everyday stories and moods, the only Italian author in history to have received a Tony Award, the Oscar of American theatre, and Luca Barbarossa, singer-songwriter, writer and radio host, do in their recital played at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone.
Stefano Massini recounts love with unpublished texts, accompanied by songs written for the occasion by Luca Barbarossa, which will then give life to an album created for this unique show where the stories have love in its various forms as a common thread and intertwine with the author music to take the audience on a journey. Love under the microscope, love in the dock, love on the analyst's couch, love on the orchestral score. The love that surrounds us everywhere. Yet, you don't quite know what it is.
