The Italian tour of Sigur Rós will start on July 9 from the Rome Summer Fest, returning to the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone 15 years after the last time.
Sigur Rós are one of the most successful Icelandic bands of all time. Their origins date back to 1994, when three teenagers, Jónsi Birgisson, Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson, and Georg Hólm, come together to form a group.
The Sigur Rós began to achieve prestigious awards even outside Iceland. Thanks to the triumph obtained, they support groups such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Radiohead.
With the third album, ( ), also called Svigaplatan, Sigur Rós gave life to a new language, vonlenska, translated into English as "hopelandic" and into Italian as "hopelandic." The eight songs on the untitled album are in this invented language made of meaningless syllables: each syllable is chosen based on its musicality.
