In the Parco del Foro Italico, the Stadio dei Marmi “Pietro Mennea”, one of the most beautiful and fascinating athletics stadiums in the world, celebrates the major redevelopment that has just been completed and its beautiful new grey track by returning to host the Roma SprintFestival, the top event in the Italian athletics scene, now in its fourth edition. Previous editions have seen record numbers and set new standards of excellence year after year, attracting athletes from 18 countries around the world, with 30 Italian athletes and 10 Olympians, and also setting two new Italian records.
As its name indicates, the event celebrates track speed, with challenges from 100 to 400 meters, including hurdles. This will be an afternoon of sport and excitement in the Roman spring, turning Rome into the capital of national sporting attention thanks to the participation of athletes who have won medals in the world’s top events and numerous Italians who have made their mark in the indoor season.
The 2024 edition will also be enriched by the extraordinary participation of 100-meter Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, who has chosen the Roma SprintFestival 2024 for his return to competitions in Italy and as a stepping stone to the European Championships in Rome in June (six consecutive days of competitions, from 7 to 12 June, with a total of eleven sessions and 24 disciplines on the programme), whose training sessions will be held in the Stadio dei Marmi, and the Olympic Games in Paris in August.
