QUO VADIS? Al cinema nel cuore di Roma

The evocative Temple of Venus, an extraordinary monument of Imperial Rome, hosts the third edition of QUO VADIS? Al cinema nel cuore di Roma (At the Movies in the heart of Rome), the festival promoted by CSC - Cineteca Nazionale and Parco Archeologico del Colosseo.

Following the 2022 Glamor of Ancientness in 10 Great Movies and 2023 Around the World in Films and Cities, the event returns with an extraordinary homage to the Eternal City in ten evenings dedicated to the art and imagination of cinema.

The event, with free admission, accompanies the public in an enthralling experience that tells the story of Rome through the eyes of great directors who have immortalised its iconic beauty and undisputed charm from the post-war period to the present day, ranging from the majestic ruins of Imperial Rome to Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architectures, up to the modern EUR profiles.

On the programme are ten films from different periods - introduced each evening by experts and personalities from the world of cinema and television - that trace an exciting portrait of the city in a succession of unforgettable movie scenes: from Cinecittà historical interiors in Visconti's Bellissima to the historic city centre locations of the famous Vespa ride in Wyler's Roman Holiday, from the splendid Piazza del Popolo of Scola's C'eravamo tanto amati finale to Via Bissolati terrace in Sorrentino's La grande Bellezza, to the suburbs of Castellitto's Fortunata, the radioactive Tiber of Mainetti's Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot, and the gangsters' residential neighbourhoods in Caligari's L'odore della notte.

All films are in original version with Italian subtitles; Italian films are in original version with English subtitles. Admission is free, subject to availability. Reservations recommended.
