On 21 June, the day of the summer solstice, the Festa della Musica is celebrated throughout Europe. Born in France in 1982 on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture, it is an initiative which also involves the whole of Italy and conveys a message of culture, integration, harmony and universality that only music can give.
The event is open to everyone: amateur and professional musicians, musical institutions, cultural academies, record companies, magazines, music schools and also to anyone who has a musical project or wants to make space available for concerts. Participation in the Festival by the musicians is completely free and the public can freely access the concerts, in accordance with the provisions of the International Charter to which the European capitals adhering to the festival circuit abide. The European Music Festival in Rome has an important dimension: in fact, hundreds of free events, of all musical genres, are planned throughout the city. The Festival takes place in famous squares, gorgeous churches, historical places and noble palaces, courtyards and cloisters, gardens and parks, as well as offices of public and private institutions, museums and archaeological areas, but also craft shops, tea rooms and cultural centres, hotels and bookstores, pubs and live music venues.
The 2023 edition has LIVE LIFE as its central theme and is characterized by particular attention to the environment.
